Now that Thanksgiving is over, Christmas is on its way, and that means 2017 is coming to an end. This year has brought significant changes in my life, ones that I am very grateful for. I usually don’t take part in “new years resolutions” because they typically don’t last. But for this coming year I have some goals that I would like to reach…so I’m calling them goals instead of resolutions!
To start, I want to work on being more aware of my finances. I typically keep track of these in my Happy Planner, which has a monthly overview as well as weeks that I can write in. Planners help me keep track of my life, finances, passwords, confirmation codes, appointments, etc. I also like to decorate my planners…but that’s another story! Along with my finances, I am going to work on increasing mysavings. When I moved out on my own this summer, my boyfriend and I had to replace our sewer ($4200…yikes…), we had to fix our water heater…($300…more yikes..) so I’ve been realizing the importance of having a savings. With that being said, I know it isn’t always financially possible to put back a lot at a time, but some is better than none! The last part of my finances I would like to get into check this year is pay off my 2 existing credit cards…they don’t need much explanation except I want to pay them off 🙂
Another goal for the next year is going to be eating better. I know most people have this goal and then don’t follow through. I’m going to use my planner to help me do this by planning out weeknight dinners. This way I know I already have the dinner planned instead of going out to eat. It is also helpful to pack my lunch the night before work. This may sound obvious, but sometimes I’m running out the door in the morning and don’t have time to pack before work. My Pinterest also has a board for simple and quick meals so you can check out as well! I’ve used this method before to keep myself on track…but I’ve been slacking the past few weeks. So I know planning ahead of time and shopping for everything in advance works, I just have to get back on track!
Lastly, I want to work hard getting my blog up and running in 2018. There is a lot of research to be done on blogging and how to be successful at it, so I’m not sure what specific goals I have yet, but I will keep you updated!
Have you guys been successful at any of these? Let me know how you did it! What goals do you have for 2018?
