2018 is just days away!! For the last few years, I’ve always gone out with friends for New Year’s Eve, and we always had a DD, as should you if you’re going out! Anyway, this year my boyfriend and I decided to have a quiet night in with just the two of us to ring in 2018!
This includes staying in our PJ’s, napping the day away (so we can stay up late!), Cooking and playing games until it’s time to count down!
If you’re planning on staying in, but you’re not sure what you’re going to do all evening, here are some ideas!
My boyfriend and I are going to put together some appitizers and drinks for the evening. I think this is a really fun idea because you can cook together and just eat snacks throughout the night! I think having a buffet of snacks to munch on during the evening will be really fun, and give a “party” feel to the evening!
We’re going to make the following: (I will link the recipes that I’m using in the name below!)
- Buffalo chicken dip
- Little smokies
- Chips and dip (probably Hellavua Good Dip)
- Pink Champagne Floats (I found this on Pinterest and felt like I needed to try it…it looks so good! My boyfriend will probably just drink beer!)
I am also going to put together a little game that will help us reflect on the past year, and share our goals for 2018. Each hour we are going to draw a piece of paper out of a bowl. Each piece of paper will have different questions recapping 2017, or plans we have in 2018. Here are some examples questions!
- Most memorable moment
- Biggest learning experience
- Biggest challenge
- Embarrassing moment
- Something you regret
- Something exciting
- Financial goals for 2018
- Personal goals for 2018
- Home improvement goals for 2018
These are just a few. I would encourage you to write down the goals you discuss during this game so that you can review them as the year progresses. I always find writing something down helps me remember to do it!! 😀
You can also play some board games, (which we plan to!) like Life, Monopoly, Scrabble, cards, etc. This is a great way to have fun together, and not be on your phones all evening. Sometimes I think it’s a good idea to get away from our phones and really live in the moment!
While we are playing games and eating, we will have the New Year’s Rockin Eve on, of course! I have watched for as long as I can remember. It’s the only way to ring in the new year!! Oh, and last but not least, get a midnight kiss 😘
What are your New year’s plans! If you’re staying in, what do you and your family do?
